报告人简介：Dr. Su-Shing Chen,Su-Shing Chen received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Maryland in 1970. He has served as professor and department chair of several universities in the US. He has served as Program Director of NSF in the US for 6 years, initiated the famous NSF/DARPA/NASA Digital Library Initiative and served as Director.More recently, he has focused on computational biology and has publishedseveral papers on cancer, Alzheimer's disease. he directs the System Biology lab at the University of Florida.

报告摘要：I will introduce a new research project, called "Human Brain Mapping"of EU and USA. The project is very ambitious to image every neuron connection of the Brain. The current MRI Diffusion Spectrum scanner has the resolution of 3 T (Tesla), with the next generation of 7 T. In my talk, I will introduce 2 new approaches to understand the Brain: one is a mathematical approach, while the other is a biochemical approach. This Human Brain Mapping Project will generate a large amount of data, the so called Big Data problem. So data mining research will be stimulated bythis project.
